The Strain Last Season

Season 4 of the Strain has been announced.  This will be the fourth and final season. While this is good news due to the rating drop last season this will be the final season.  The other good thing about announcing this as the last season is that it will make sure the show has a conclusion. It would have been very traumatic to fans if it never returned. The show has outstanding FX and it isn’t cheap to produce so we should probably all thank Netflix and other streaming platforms making it financially beneficial for shows with strong fan bases to no longer need the 100 episodes for syndication.

The show was based on a series of books so it also made sense for it to only go on for four seasons.  Each season has seen a progression. While the show takes place over a short time period it would also be weird to see actors looking 5 years older when it’s only 5 weeks in television time of the story.

the official season premier date has not been announced but it is believed to be August or September. Typically it has been last summer or early fall.  Last season started slightly later than previous season so we expect the same thing to happen this  year. As you can see from the above image this tv show has the best horror villains on television and we are excited to have one more season.

The CDC Has A Plan For A Zombie Apocalypse

Though the thought of actual zombie invasion seems to be farfetched, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) may be thinking differently. In fact, CDC has just made announcements concerning the possibility of zombie apocalypse, and they are encouraging people to get ready for what could only be catastrophic event.

In the announcement, rear admiral Ali S. Khan, MD of the CDC’s Office of Public Health Preparedness indicated that the popularity of the zombie culture only proves that zombie apocalypse could actually happen in the future. He noted how creations featuring zombies show how the living dead can invade nations and penetrate all city streets all the while causing harm to all the live people who blocking their way. And with such zombie-themed works, a lot of people got wondering how they can possibly prepare for the zombie apocalypse in case that that it happens in the future.

According to Khan, to prepare for the zombie chaos, people may follow some standard disaster procedures, including storing water and other supplies and setting up a meeting place for the whole family in case of unforeseeable incidents.

It is good that CDC is showing some concern regarding the said matter. However, the announcement got people curious on how this particular sector of the government suddenly become interested in preparing for zombie invasion.

Well, it seems that the idea for the zombie warning came from Dave Daigle, the head of communications for the CDC’s preparedness department, which has a $1.4 billion budget to spend this year to resolve people’s issues concerning public health-related problems during major disasters, such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Just a while ago, CDC provided aid with Haiti’s cholera outbreak and with the radiation caused by the Fukushima nuclear meltdown in Japan.

Daigle stated that they make their announcements during hurricane season, which starts at June 1, and that they send messages containing the same thing every year. However, the department has no idea whether the recipients do really take the time to read the messages.

Moreover, according to Daigle, informing the people about preparedness plans becomes much easier when they are using zombie themes and viral social-media marketing. In relation to this, the CDC’s zombie post was the first time that the department utilized Facebook and Twitter to launch a preparedness campaign that is not specific for a particular disaster. According to Daigle, the result of the announcement was a success.

The intention of the message about preparedness is great. However, the topic is not really something that the public are very well-interested in. Yet, as Daigle had observed, after posting their announcement on Monday, their servers crashed by Wednesday. The zombie warning incurred 30,000 views, which is triple of the traffic that CDC normally attains for a preparedness warning that has already been posted for 10 days. Daigle already anticipated that their zombie warning would be picked up by more people, but he was surprise to see such as big turnout.

At present, CDC is implementing another gimmick, wherein people are invited to join a video contest for zombie preparedness messages. The CDC is now utilizing some well-known tactics, including the use of popular topics, social media, and people’s participation, which have been proven to be effective to some extent by media outlets, companies, and political campaigns, to disseminate information.

Though some people think that the announcement was just a waste of time and money, Daigle clarified that their plan was not financed by external supporters and that writing the message did not take too much of their time. Moreover, the campaign did not add to the expenses of the department.

However, though the CDC is intent on warning people about the possibility of zombie outbreak, their plan seems to be lacking. Thus, people should not rely on CDC’s advice alone in case that the zombie apocalypse does actually occurs. Notably, the CDCs warning does not have information regarding the use of shotguns, torches, going to high grounds, hot-wiring cars, roaming the grounds during the night, and other strategies that can help people in preventing zombies from invading their homes. Though the warning is well-thought off, it may be proven to be more effective in the event of other disturbances, such as a hurricane.

According to Daigle, it is impossible for them to post anything about weapons because they are a public-health center. Thus, they are leaving it in the hands of the authorities to post advices and warnings regarding the use of weapons during a zombie apocalypse.

Key Aspects Of The Best Zombie Movies

Every movie zombie fan is possible very familiar with the works of George A. Romero. His fascination for zombies became the starting point of the zombie culture, leading to the creation of zombie-inspired films and TV shows, videogames, comics books and graphic novels, and music. Basically, anything zombie-related is now embedded deep in people’s culture, even though most only thought of zombies as terrifying creatures.

The nature of zombies has already been interpreted in various manners, as seen in Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Edgar Wrights’s Shaun of the Dead. Zombie movies either focused on the creatures as having some kind of life, or in other cases, they were metaphorically compared with the kind of life that people are living everyday. No matter what the reason is, zombie culture is a very popular source of entertainment (and horror) for most people, and many may be wondering why movies featuring the living dead tend to become popular and gain a cult following. Possibly, the success of zombie movies is related to the following factors:

  1. CLAUSTROPHOBIC LOCATIONS

A lot of people would agree that most zombie movie include almost enclosed spaces. In fact, it is a common scenario in zombie movies to see people getting trapped in spaces that are about to be invaded by the living dead. The Night of the Living Dead might have been the first zombie movie to interpret zombies as creatures roaming around spaces while making inaudible sounds as they try to prey on live humans.

Meanwhile, for some, the Living Dead franchise is one of the greatest zombie film of all time, and that is because the film maximized using the element of claustrophobia. Just to recap, Living Dead focuses on a group of strangers who become entrapped in a small abandoned farmhouse. It is not long before the group realizes that the living dead are closing in on them. Shot in black and white, the tension in the movie is slowly built before the zombies create chaos thanks to the bad decisions and misfortunes of the lead character. In addition, the film is notable for including undead children. For most parts, the scenes featured are inside the farmhouse, shown in grainy black and white, and remarkably, emanate a claustrophobic vibe as the film progresses. Moreover, the basement of the farmhouse serves as fortress for the zombie child in the movie. As a whole, the movie is great thanks to a number of factors. However, its capability to use a very small space to accommodate a number of people is what really makes it great.

Along with the Living Dead, other movies who wisely utilized the element of claustrophobia include the Dead franchise, in which Day of the Dead, even with its flaws, bears great horror because of the manner that it relayed the story set in a very confined environment. In the movie, the characters can be found in an underground bunker most of the time, and even the sunlight fails to provide some hope. The characters have to rely only on the halogen bulbs to see each other.

[Rec} is another zombie movie which should be applauded for using a claustrophobic location. The movie is set in an apartment building, which is eventually raided by infected people. In short, the setting is an important factor that adds to the credibility of a zombie movie.

However, there are cases when some zombie movies fail to account for this point. For instance, one of the Dead franchise movies, the Diary of the Dead, was very awful for some because most of the scenes are shot in open areas in a bus. Moreover, with such setting, the movie utterly fails in giving the viewers a sense of danger. The Land of the Dead is a fairly good movie, which only flops in some points, especially in the scenarios which take place in small spaces, such as an abandoned shop. And the same goes for when the scenes are shot outside building structures.

The World War Z is also quite very good, as it provides some heightened excitement but again, the use of location is not maximized. To further clarify on this aspect, viewers should review the scenes including those of the zombie onslaught at Jerusalem and at the medical facility. The sense of danger is kind of missed out since it is already implied that Brad Pitt has a high chance of escaping via a plane.

In TV shows, the issues can also be encountered but to a lesser degree. The use of confined spaces is also effective but it can only be used in shorter periods. In the mini-series, Dead Set, the scenes are most effective when they are shot in the Big Brother set, whereas the tension subsides when the scene include those shot outside the TV station.

When talking about zombies, almost everyone would mention a thing or two about The Walking Dead. However, when considering the use of claustrophobic location, the TV show can’t be categorized as a failure as it is focused more on telling the story of the live characters and not that of the living dead. In fact, the zombies in the drama can be considered as support lingering behind in the backdrop instead of being an active factor. Thus, the major characters of the show do not necessarily need to trapped in closed spaces at all time, but only those moments when inflicting horrors becomes the focus.

  1. THE GROUP CONSISTING OF LAGGARDS AND OTHER SURVIVORS

Of course, survivors are important element of every zombie movie. However, to contribute to the success of a zombie flick, the group of survivors should consist of the right combination of people with varying qualities, which not all should be moral and good. Whether they are evil or not, viewers anticipate what will happen to all the living characters in a zombie movie. Well, it’s not necessarily that viewers should care for the characters and cry upon their death, however, the characters should possess unique qualities, albeit a bad one, to make them stand out.

The Night of the Living Dead is a great example showing a good combination of its characters. The characters of the movie are basically strangers and the situation they are in contributes in creating a heightened tension among them and the sense of claustrophobia inside the farmhouse. Stuck in a very tight space, the characters in The Night of the Living can only shout and contradict each other, which do not necessarily help in resolving their problem. The tension in a zombie movie is understandable, because there is no sense uniting people and providing them with harmony in times of trouble. In fact, it can only lead to the demise of the movie. By contrast, when the characters fight with each other, the viewers are tempted to take sides and choose their bets for survival. The Dawn of the Dead and The Walking Dead series recognized the importance of causing conflict in their characters and did a great job it. The Telltale Games counterpart of The Walking Dead was also successful in this aspect as well as [Rec]. In the aforementioned examples, the appearance of hordes of zombies served as a tool to gather humans who bear no relations with each other and who do not really welcome the idea of spending some time with and relying on strangers for survival.

A little off-topic, another great movie, Frank Darabont’s The Mist, practices the principle of forcing strangers together in a confined space. In the movie, shoppers and strangers get trapped inside a supermarket when a mysterious and quite deadly mist covers an entire town and monsters started appearing and snatching people. The tension is further heightened when a religious zealot decides to take matters in her own hands and starts converting some gullible people into her followers and setting them on killing the protagonist and the other characters who are not siding with her. The Mist is great example showing the effective of ripping people apart with conflict, which sometimes lead to some unwarranted fate of some characters. The Day of the Dead also makes of such element, wherein the survivors of the movie begin to split up, as they continue to disagree concerning their viewpoints.

World War Z should be noted again for failing to effectively use conflicting characters. In the movie, Brad Pitt has to travel to various parts of the world with company of some unremarkable characters. Brad Pitt met various characters, including a Jewish intelligence expert, an Israeli soldier, a soldier who always talks a mouth, and the scientist whose characters basically remained bland throughout the movie. Thus, as the movie concludes, Brad Pitt’s face seems to be the only one that seemed memorable, whereas the others just served as passersby.

  1. GORE

Likewise, it seems that World War Z lacks blood and gore. Gore is an important quality associated with successful zombie movies. In most cases, the films show reanimated or infected humans setting about biting the healthy ones. In such cases, blood is bound to spill. A person may get bitten on the throat, the arm, and other parts of the body, and depending on the part bitten, blood may appear as a spurting liquid or a gushing river or red blood cells. Moreover, human victims could be dismembered or gutted by the living thing. In fact, it has been customary for zombie movies to show some blood and unmerciful killings.

  1. LEANING TOWARD AN R-RATING

Though not all people give very importance to the rating, it is indicative of how much gore, bloodiness, and horror can be seen in a zombie film. In fact, zombie movies which are aimed at showing guts and instilling indescribable terror should lean toward attaining a rating that is only meant for adults. Basically, it is the sense of danger which can help in achieving such status. However, in the case of World War Z, there seems to be only a few death and inadequate sense of terror.

In conclusion, the abovementioned things are not the absolute factor determining the success of a zombie film. However, having a few of them in a zombie movie will greatly contribute in their success. Specifically, a great combination of any of the said factors will add to the overall terror brought about by zombies. Still, a very talented filmmaker may be able to pull off a movie without necessarily taking into consideration all those factors. Yet, the success of such film may not be tantamount to that which was reached by the most notable zombie films of all time.

Reasons Why Everyone Love The Walking Dead

Admit it, The Walking Dead is one of the most popular TV series today. Though there were some points when the show seemed to have lost its way, it did not falter in gaining followers and maintaining its high ratings. However, though millions of people are avid fans of the show, some just plainly do not see who The Walking Dead became the center of attention of TV viewers. Moreover, others also do not understand how millions of dollars is spend on the show even though its quality has shown fluctuation even up to now. To give the non-Walking Dead fans some idea, people love the show for a number of reasons.

  • THE WALKING DEAD IS THE ONE SHOW THAT CAN UNITE MALE AND FEMALE VIEWERS

A lot of people love The Walking Dead because it is able to deal with several themes at once. Moreover, the show covers a huge demographic and the concepts used are well thought of. Males watch the show possibly because they like watching zombie fights and breakouts and using guns and other stuff to kill the walkers, whereas females may favor more the depth of the characters portrayed in the show. In fact, it is a good thing that The Walking Dead manages to combine those concepts.

  • IT STARTED WITH A STRONG SEASON

Most fans probably think that the first season of The Walking Dead is the best so far. Actually, the first season started with a strong vibe, which it was able maintain throughout the last episode. Though the succeeding seasons had high ratings as well, it was the first season which seemed to be the most memorable for most people.

  • THE OTHER SEASONS FAIRED VERY WELL

Other The Walking Dead fans favored the other seasons instead of season 1. Since, the story was just starting, some deemed the first season to be quite boring. However, for some fans, things started heating up when Rick’s group reached the prison and started their battle with the Governor.

Meanwhile, other people also noted how exciting the Alexandria chapter was, leaving a number of fans scratching their heads after each episode.

However, it seems that the intense hype caused by The Walking Dead had stopped in Alexandria. In fact, others claimed that they got bored for the most part in the rest of seasons. At present, they are hoping that things will get lively again in show, especially when Negan’s face has already been revealed.

  • WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THE ZOMBIE GENRE

A lot of people watch The Walking Dead because basically, it is about zombies. And in addition to the use of this popular genre, the show managed to include the story of the survivors, both in the past and in the present, as they struggle to continue living in a world filled with the living dead. Moreover, The Walking Dead how the survival instincts of humans kick in when their lives ae in danger. The show does not only show a lot of killing and gory details, there is also considerable amount of hatred and anger, challenging people’s perception of humanity and showing how people are burdened by making great decisions that can possibly cost their lives.

The Walking Dead also demonstrates that there are times when people really have practice the saying, “kill or be killed.” Basically, the characters, at some point, face the challenge of choosing what is wrong and what they should do to survive.

In addition, there were also some instances when the characters should decide whether to just leave other people alone and to just strive to build a community that can preserve their race.

Naturally, The Walking Dead makes some people feel really alive, because they get to analyze the types of behavior that they may manifest once they get trapped in such situation. People also contemplate on whether killing for survival makes them a bad person or whether they should retain their humanity even when their lives are at stake.

In a way, the survivors in The Walking Dead gained a sense of freedom, especially when they are able to give in to their urge to kill by killing zombies. Still, their main goal involves managing to live a normal life despite the fact that they have to be on guard everyday.

Possibly, those who are not fond of The Walking Dead despise the idea of anarchy. Moreover, it is only natural that some people view the world as something perfect, and The Walking Dead defies the very possibility of living a utopian life. In addition, the appearance of zombies serves as evidence of the faults of humans and their capacity to cause destruction and chaos.

  • HIGH QUALITY SPECIAL EFFECTS

No one can deny that The Walking Dead provides viewers with a good deal when it comes to special effects, especially in the gory and bloody details involving the zombies. However, notably, the excellent use of special effects is sometimes shadowed by the show’s focus on its characters, which sometimes, just suck in the excitement that occurs after a harrowing experience with the walkers. Fortunately, the show manages to get back to its feet every time that it stumbles down.

  • VIEWERS DO NOT GET TIRED OF WATCHING ZOMBIES

It’s capability to hold people’s attention no matter how crappy a story is something that only the zombie genre possesses. As long as it is about zombie, people will still likely finish a movie or TV series no matter how nonsense the story may be. And the same goes for The Walking Dead. A lot of people have already condemned the show when it failed to leave up to their expectations, but nevertheless, millions of people watch the show when it basically just follows the same formula in its story: battles with zombies, survival, conflict, then zombies again. The show sometimes already becomes predictable but people still see past its flaws and continue watching it.

  • A GOOD TIMESLOT

The Walking Dead is aired at 9 pm every Sunday, the time when more people are at home and are just sitting on their couch waiting for something noteworthy to watch. And given the other top rating shows shown at the same day and time slot, The Walking Dead seems to be putting up quite a fight.

  • THE CABLE SHOULD BE PUT TO GOOD USE

Yes, a number of people who hate The Walking Dead, and some also lost faith because of its misgivings. However, people are still paying cable so fees so instead of turning off the television, they opt to just the watch the show.

  • EVERYONE” JUST LOVES THE WALKING DEAD

It has been cleared that millions of people love The Walking Dead, yet there are also people who despise the show. Understandably, some people really just cannot bear the thought that some people may not like watching The Walking Dead. This is especially true when a person’s family or closes friends are also avid fans of the show. Thus, it would be just hard for them to change what they feel for The Walking Dead.

  • THE COMICS HAS A LARGE FAN BASE

The Walking Dead is based from a comics, which has pretty large fan base. Expectedly, when a comics with a huge following is adapted for TV, its readers would surely be curious and may want to watch the live version. In the case of The Walking Dead, the timing of the show was also perfect, and thus, it has become of the top rating show to date.

Avid fans waited for The Walking Dead’s Season 7 premiere, and the show did not fail to make some ripples in various social media platforms. Though most people might have wailed and shed tears with all the brutality and the deaths of the well-loved characters of the show, a few had some issues about how that particular episode was portrayed.

  1. NEGAN ALMOST LOOKED LIKE HE CAME FROM THE CARTOONS

Negan is a new and major character, who was introduced in the season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead. The character was supposed to be much more cruel and sadistic compared with the other characters that Rick’s group has encountered, However, with the aim of making Negan more nefarious, his character appeared more like to come from other universe, like that in the Game Thrones, where Ramsay could only be described as a creation of pure evil.

However, Negan’s character seemed to be misaligned with the kind of evilness observed in The Walking Dead Universe. For example, despite the misdeeds of the Governor, he was known for showing a bit of kindness to his people. In fact, he was so human that he decided to keep his dead and already zombie daughter. Moreover, it can’t be denied that some of his followers really did love the Governor and thought that he was a good man.

Meanwhile, in the case of Negan, it seems that all his human qualities have vanished into thin air. Moreover, he likes to talk like a mad villain in cartoonish shows. In fact, one can get tired hearing him droning on about his authority. Moreover, his characters lies in the thin line between being horrible and scary. The other antagonists, such as the Governor, the Termites, and the Wolf, all showed their characteristic evil behavior. However, for Negan, he’s just like some crazy man who is fond of waving bats and hearing the sound of his own voice.

In addition, some people may also think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan does not fit the role of Negan. Others also think that his portrayal is not as terrifying as what they have imagined. And because Morgan did not strike other viewers as that scary, some thought that Rick should have just a go at him and kill him right away. In fact, Rick had the upper hand if ever there was a fight between him and Negan.

Some people also think that Negan is comparatively inferior with Breaking Bad’s Tuco, who is as known by the show’s fans, crazy, unpredictable, and is very hot-headed.

  1. EXCESSIVE, EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE EVEN FOR THE WALKING DEAD

Some avid fans might condemn those who say that the violence shown in The Walking Dead’s season 7 premiere was too much. In addition, it is known fact that notable violence was also seen in the comics version of the series.

However, what people should realize is that the violence portrayed in colored paper is different from that is seen moving in television. Yes, the scenes in the premiere are watchable, but it is really not certain whether the viewers really did want to watch them. Most viewers stomached some scenes with the zombies, including those showing skins peeling off from the walking. However, showing Glenn’s face with his bulging eye gets smashed in by a bat repeatedly might have been a bit of over the top. In fact, some fans might be preferring if Glenn just really died last season.

  1. THE SEASON 7 PREMIERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEASON 6’S FINALE

A lot of people have waited to learn who’s going to be the villain this season, but some did not really like the idea of having to wait for months just to see Negan making his monologues and swinging his bat. On the other hand, viewers think that The Walking Dead’s season 7 premiere should have been last season’s finale.

Meanwhile, given that a great cliffhanger ended season 6, both the last season’s finale episode and the season 7 premiere were peppered with fillers and a lot of dramas, coming out as a cheap trick to eat time for some viewers.

Other fans also contemplated that the show should have just focused on getting Maggie to a doctor instead of just letting Rick and Negan get acquainted with each other. Meanwhile, some people suggested that Abraham should have been killed in season 6. That way, people would think that they already know who has died but then Glenn would still be killed. Instead, the only thing that took most viewers’ breath away was Carl almost losing his hand to his father.

  1. ERRONEOUS AND JUST PLAIN BAD SCRIPTWRITING

Negan came out as cartoonish to some viewers because of the things that he said, and that would be the fault of the writers. The writers decided to keep his character guffawing, chuckling, and being engrossed in his monologues just like in the comics, but in the case, their decision turned be a great mistake.

In fact, a lot of people would agree that Negan could just not stop talking, and the things that he said only wasted people’s time. Meanwhile, there were moments when Negan just looked crazy stupid in the screen.

The focus of attention on Negan became much more disappointing when the other characters were not given the same amount of importance. Moreover, Rick got infected with stupidity when he said out loud that he’s going to kill Negan right after the man had turned to of his friends’ heads into mush. Fortunately, he realized how stupid he was later on.

The show also seemed to be missing some logic with its premier. Since Daryl was the one who punched Negan, wouldn’t it make sense if Negan chose to kill him? Moreover, even Daryl seemed to have been a bit emotional with that episode though it was understandable on Maggie’s part.

Some viewers might have also been wondering how the hell did the axe landed on the roof of the trailer when it looked like Negan threw onto the ground. Nevertheless, Rick has been known for working miracles when facing hordes of zombies.

  1. GLENN DESERVED A SO MUCH BETTER DEATH

A lot of viewers cried over Glenn’s death. Though he suffered the same manner of death in the comics, his demise should have been given much more justice given his great contribution to the show.

Again, what looked good in the comics may not appear the same in television. That is why there is what is called as adaptation. It means that it is okay to tweak some things in the original material. And in The Walking Dead’s cases, they should have given Glenn’s death some more glory.

The lack of care for Glenn seems to go way back in the previous season. First, the show tried to kill him in season 6, and that did not gain the approval of a lot of viewers. However, in season 7, the show did another stupid thing by giving Glenn’s death a short air time. Some have even pointed out that Tyreese’s death last longer (which was in fact ate up a whole episode). Glenn was a very much loved character and one of the ones who stayed the longest, it was an act of injustice to give him just a few minutes of air time upon his death.

Thus, basically, Glenn should have been given additional tribute before he was cut off from the show. A better treatment could also have made up for the show’s treatment of the audience when they tried to kill Glenn.

On the other hand, though there were some notable and intriguing issues regarding The Walking Dead’s Season 7 premiere, there were some good elements that are worth mentioning. For example, for once, Rick lost himself and a became a weak creature in Negan’s hands, showing that he too, could not win every game. With this new conflict with himself, viewers would be anticipating Rick’s future actions in the succeeding episodes of the show.

In addition, The Walking Dead, in some ways, regained its former glory. Negan’s bat really did a good job holding people’s attention as it took the lives some of the show’s greatest characters.

However, the show has just started and there are more episodes to look forward to. Thus, it is still uncertain whether The Walking Dead can maintain its season premiere hype or it will just start boring the viewers later on. In addition, viewers will still have to wait to see whether they should really be scared of Negan or whether they should by some ear plugs for when he’s doing his long monologues.

A lot of filler today. I felt like they kept the action stuff short.  Maybe a smart way to keep the budget down.  Classic quote to Eugene who wanted to kill a walker. “You have a better chance of picking up a turd by the clean end.”

And what is up with Daryl not being able to drive a 5 speed or manual transmission car?  That is real believable.  The guy drives a motor cycle.  He grew up a red neck.  They had automatic pickups?

Basic premise is to go on a run to locate medicine.  Typically that leads to entering a dark warehouse and then the car.  Why do cars always have walker in them?

Over all it was a fun episode.  Nothing particularly worth typing about.  I’m not in feeling like posting spoilers even if no one reads this.

The Walking Dead – Episode 78 “Knots Untie”

I have to admit that I enjoy episodes like tonight “Knots Untie.”  It sets up more plot and story.  It answered my biggest current question who the hell is Jesus? It introduced us to the Hill Top community.  A high lookout that you can see for 5 miles around.  Makes sense.  A solid wall fortress.  But why the hell do that not build a mote around these things.  Like that little wall is gonna keep who out?  And what happens when you end up with a zombie herd.

Another issue that bothers me is what the hell was Alexandrea doing for food all this time?  They didn’t grow crops and farm animals?  Again build a damn note and fill it with fish. Then build another wall around that.

The other burning question I have is about protection.  The Hill Top community is out of animation.  Wouldn’t it make sense to go find some.  This country has enough guns for everyone to have a few.  People make bullets all the time.  Go find some gun powder and make some damn bullets.  More importantly remember Daryl used to always use a bow and arrow.  Why don’t you make some of those?

And my last comment.  Is everyone who survives an apocalypse bad?  How many humans are left and are you going to just murder everyone.  It’s like other people are continually more of the threat than a zombie.

Final comment without giving away a huge spoiler.  The group is obviously making another bad decision that is going to cause more conflict and tragedy.  But you kind of need that for a high tension series finale that comes in just 4 more weeks.

Lots of promos for Fear The Walking Dead.  Then we get the return of the Strain. So all is good in Zombieland.

TWD – Episode 77 “The Next World”

Always spoilers here.  Not trying to imply there is anything wrong with the show. On the contrary. This season is one of the best.  But there have been a lot of what I call script supervisor issues this season.  Just slightly beyond the suspension of disbelief.  In last weeks midseason premier Daryl beats up a guy behind a truck just feet away from everyone without making a noise.  Of course you need that for the surprise missile launcher death of Negan’s men.

This episode the new character Jesus is tied up and left on the side of the road.  But somehow he manages to climb up on the roof of the truck before Daryl and Rick drive off without being heard.  I’m okay with that because it sets up some serious conflict but it’s beyond the normal reality fiction action issues that the show has.

I’m okay with believing our hero’s keep escaping death more times than James Bond.  But it’s these unexplainable things that have me rolling my eyes a little.  With that all said.  It was another great episode this week even with it being a little slower than we have gotten used to.

TWD – Episode 76 “No Way Out”

Bite, Chew, Swallow…Repeat for a minute I thought this was written by the master Quentin Tarantino. Seriously some great dialogue. This could easily be one of the best written episodes yet. Sure it was action packed. Maybe I just missed the show it’s been months. Maybe they just really got good at telling stories. I was reading a post on reddit about there being 5000 Zombies for every living human. You have to assume that the US has a lower ratio just because it’s a first world country and there are a lot more guns. What always gives me issue is that it seems like everyone they come across is bad. Even people that are accepted into the inner circle do bad things. People just kill people. I go by the theory that if this really happened that people would value life even more because there are so few humans left. And I guess I believe that human nature is intrinsically good. Compassion is something that makes us different. Does that disappear in an apocalypse. Or do you need to lack empathy in order to survive in the first place.

Really a great episode. They continue to come up with great plot devices. And the show continues to entertain. Feels like the quality is on the way up. Of course it felt like the at the end of mid-season the stakes got raised so high there was no place to go but down. Looking forward to seeing the reason of the season. 7 more weeks plus 15 weeks of Fear The Walking Dead. Then there is always another season of The Strain. Things are good in horror and gore tvland.

Upcoming Episodes TWD and FTWD

AMC has announced that Fear The Walking Dead season 2 will be 15 episodes split into 2 parts. The premier will be April 10, 2016. Best estimates is that is the week following The Walking Dead finale. The first half of season 2 will be 7 episodes and the final part will air some time in 2016. We should assume that will be the 8 weeks prior to the next season of The Walking Dead Season 7. Good news for all you fans of Chris Hardwick he will follow Season 2 FTWD with his talking dead show.

Don’t forget the second half of Season 6 of The Walking Dead airs Feb 14, 2016.
