What licensing fees are required to use RFID?
I’m working on a project that involves new uses for RFID (Radio frequency ID) technology. If someone invents a new system that uses RFID technology, do they have to pay any licensing fees to simply use off-the-shelf RFID tags?

There is a huge controversy over this right now with the technology possibly going towards the direction of a patent fee for using the technology on their tags etc.
I have found one article which talks about it and might be of some use for you. They talk about what is going to be in the fee, how much it will be and future plans that they are trying to introduce for those technologies using the RFID.
This was back in 04, so you might find more about this. My guess is that there is going to be the patent fee if it is not already in place. You might want to check patent offices in the country of your business to see if one has been created.
